From the €1,500 Childbirth Allowance to Scholarships for Employees’ Children: Crocco Unveils a Comprehensive New Welfare Plan

Crocco, a Benefit Corporation long dedicated to environmental and social sustainability, has implemented a new corporate welfare initiative aimed at enhancing the well-being of its employees and their families.

The new programme, introduced by a global leader in packaging made from recycled, compostable materials with carbon-offset production, is structured around three principal pillars: a childbirth allowance for employees, scholarships for their children, and life insurance coverage.

Renato Zelcher, CEO of Crocco, remarked: "We have Always upheld the belief that a company should contribute to the well-being of its employees not only in their professional lives but also in their personal journeys. This welfare programme embodies our vision of a responsible enterprise where the well-being of people is central to corporate decision-making, supported by tangible and, as Always at Crocco, measurable actions."

In a country (Italy) grappling with a declining birth rate, supporting employees in parenthood has become a pressing concern for many organisations. In this context, Crocco will provide a €1,500 allowance for each childbirth, easing the challenges faced by new parents employed by the company during such a significant life stage.

Further addressing the needs of the younger generation, albeit at a later stage in their lives, the company has also introduced five scholarships of €1,500 each for employees’ children entering their first year of university. This measure aims to provide meaningful support for access to higher Education.

"In addition to delivering practical financial assistance, the nature of the benefits we chose to offer reflects the ethos that defines Crocco," Zelcher continued. "As a high-tech company driven by research, investing in university Education aligns seamlessly with our identity."

Lastly, the welfare plan incorporates life insurance to ensure financial protection for families in unforeseen circumstances.

At Crocco, welfare is not merely a response to labour market demands but a cornerstone of the company’s broader strategy to promote a sustainable growth model. Concluding, Renato Zelcher observed: "Being a Benefit Corporation signifies for us a commitment to spearheading positive change. Our welfare initiatives are designed to improve quality of life and foster a workplace environment conducive to both personal and professional growth. With this plan, Crocco reaffirms its dedication to strengthening the bond between business and community, while addressing the practical needs of individuals. We are confident that these measures will collectively contribute to the well-being of families and the wider community, underscoring that corporate success can and must coexist with social responsibility."
